Pre-Departure

Well, as this my first post, I feel I should take this time and explain a bit about myself. I am a college student from Virginia, about to be studying abroad in Madrid, Spain. My flight leaves in about 11 days and 21 hours.
I'll be staying with some distant family while there, and attending the Universidad Complutense - Spain's largest public college.

The past few months have been super hectic, getting all sorts of paperwork filled out for my college and the study abroad company, but so far it's been way worth it. I've been staying at home, planning my trip, and overall just hanging out. So far, I've gotten my passport renewed, my flights booked, and my housing squared away, among other things. All I have left to do now is get my International student ID from my school, and then I'm set!
In total, I will be in Spain for 89 days, beginning with la semana santa - holy week, a week of festivities throughout Spain between March and April. I'll be studying Spanish language and culture at the university, and every couple of weekends, the study abroad program takes us on these excursions all over the country, so that should be cool. I'll try and take as many photos as possible, and post them here, but my camera isn't having the best of luck with battery power.

Soon, I'll try and post an in-depth look at my last preparations and packing and such, but until then, I'll be thinking about what I'm going to pack, relaxing, and trying to fix this sleep schedule o' mine. Anyway, ¡hasta luego!

Brian
